 Jim Winterton has been coaching racquetball since 1973. Over the past 35 years Jim has taught, competed with, and coached the top names in the game. Honing his craft over those years, Jim never lost touch with the ultimate goal, helping people.
"My philosophy is simple, "teach people, not racquetball!” My goal is to help an athlete become better than they ever dreamed."
Jim has also coached football, and taught in the public school classroom during his career. He was Head Coach of the USA team for over ten years.
He was also national Junior USA team coach. He led these teams, adult and junior, to undefeated peformances. These skills enable Jim to motivate, teach, and evaluate racquetball at an extremely high level. In the last four years Jim has coached and worked with the top female and male players in the world, but he has also taught introductory lessons, and ran two junior programs as a volunteer in the Syracuse, New York area. He has coached some of the top junior players in the nation, but has also coached several regional skill level players. He certifies coaches and pros through the International and American Professional Racquetball Organizations.
He is the head instructor at the United States Elite Racquetball Camp, the largest racquetball camp in the world, which is held at the United States Olympic Training Center, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Assisting Coach Winterton with the trainings are:- John Craig Chisholm - national high school mixed doubles champion, top 8 players in his age division in the nation
- Courtney Chisholm - national high school mixed doubles champion (with her brother, John Craig), former world junior champion
- Sammy Newport - beginning player who has taken his game up three levels in one year
- Tim Kirch - nationally ranked seniors player, Northeast Regional champion
- Triston HIckey - Irish national doubles Champion
