Black Belt Tactical creator and Instructor, George Wehby, brings a wide range of practical experience garnered in the military, law enforcement and as a highly sought-after instructor. His teaching credentials include firearms training for federal agents and private citizens, technical advisor and host on Guns and Ammo’s Personal Defense TV and as a respected Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As a life-long martial artist with black belts in multiple disciplines, George fused his passion for and knowledge of the martial arts with his extensive experience in tactical shooting to create the Black Belt Tactical Dynamic Defense method.
From 1995 to 1999 George was U.S. Marine Corps Infantry and served as a White House NCO in the Yankee White Program for the Presidential Marine Sentry. From 1999 to 2002, he served as a street police officer in Prince Georges County, MD, where he received the Medal of Valor. Following his police service, George served from 2002 to 2007 with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a Federal Air Marshal. He taught for a Government Contract Company, Triple Canopy, providing firearms and close-quarter combat training for Federal Agents. George continues to work as a professional firearms trainer specializing in handguns and concealment as well as other weapons systems.
George Wehby has multiple Black Belts in different disciplines: Black Belt, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (Tony Passos, ATOS Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Association); Black Belt, Nisei Kito Ryu Jiu-jitsu (Sergio DeCasien, National Martial Arts Association); and Black Belt, Goju Ryu Karate (Bob Roach, South Jersey Martial Arts). He owned and operated the MMA Institute of Winchester in Winchester, Virginia. George recently relocated to Birmingham, Alabama and founded The Lion Heart Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
